  • You can find beautiful swan motifs at the Kanchipuram Kailasanathar Temple in Tamil Nadu.

3. Creating Mythical & Spiritual “Makara Variants”

  • Learn to draw Makara Patchi, Magara Simham, Makara Matsyam in traditional style

  • Master the art of drawing Nandhi/Virushabam, representing Dharma, with simple steps.

  • Learn to capture Nandhi in traditional South Indian temple style.

  • Nandhi serves as Lord Shiva's vahana (vehicle).

  • Adhigara Nandhi signifies duty, steadfastness, and patience.

6. Elephant - Vahana of Lord Indra

  • The peacock, as the vahana of Lord Kartikeya (also known as Skanda or Murugan), symbolises victory, beauty, the cycle of time and cosmic renewal

  • The bird represents purity, immortality, and spiritual awakening. It is a divine emblem reflecting enlightenment and freedom from material desires

10. Parrot - The Symbol of vibrancy of life

  • The parrot represents the soul's journey toward enlightenment. It conveys wisdom and the beauty of divine communication, qualities cherished in iconography and sacred art

  • The parrot is traditionally associated with Kamadeva, the god of love and desire

11. Rishabakuncharam - An awesome creation

  • Learn to draw a wonderful imaginary creation

  • A sculpture of an elephant and a bull in one stone. The two seem to collide head-on. If you hide the body of an elephant it looks like a bull and if you hide the body of a bull it looks like an elephant

​​12. Kamadhenu and Karpagatharu

  • Learn to draw the most auspicious Kamadhenu, a divine cow which is the mother of all cows. Kamadhenu is depicted as the creator of power that gives what is asked for

  • Learn to draw the Kalpa Tree or Kalpavriksha, a tree in the Deva world. It’s a belief that whatever one wants while standing under the tree, they would get it immediately

13. Yaali

  • In Shilpa Shastra and iconography, the Yaali is a mythical creature often depicted with the body of a lion and the head of another animal, such as an elephant (gaja yaali) or a dog (svana yaali). It symbolizes strength, protection, and divine power.

  • You can find beautiful Yaali sculptures at the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple and the Airavateshvara Temple in Tamil Nadu

14. Keerthimugam

  • In Shilpa Shastra and iconography, Keerthimugam (also known as Kirtimukha) is a fierce, mythical creature often depicted with a gaping mouth and huge fangs, symbolizing the devouring of evil and protection. It's also know as "Face of Glory"

  • You can find beautiful Keerthimugam sculptures at the Brihadeeswarar Temple in Thanjavur and the Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai, Tamil Nadu

  • Guardian Element: Placed above temple entrances, it acts as a guardian, ensuring only positive forces enter the sacred space.

15. Thiruvaasi - Symbol of Divine Aura

  • The Thiruvaasi represents the radiant glory and spiritual energy emanating from the deity. It frames the idol, emphasizing the divine presence and elevating its sanctity

  • Sangu (Conch): Represents purity, auspicious beginnings, and the sound of the divine.

  • Chakkaram (Disc): Symbolizes protection, dharma, and the cosmic order.

  • These symbols are often depicted in temple art and architecture to invoke blessings and positive energy.
